3. Campaign Contributions and Elections BC
Campaign contributions are subject to the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act and Elections BC requirements.
Individuals making campaign contributions must meet applicable contributor eligibility requirements. The Campaign may therefore request information necessary to establish and record contributor eligibility before or during the contribution process.
The Campaign's Financial Agent is responsible for maintaining records required under applicable campaign-finance legislation and Elections BC requirements. These records may include contributor information, contribution amounts and dates, and information concerning how contributor eligibility was confirmed.
Certain campaign contribution information is required by law to become public.
Under current Elections BC requirements, where an individual makes contributions totalling $100 or more, the contributor's name and contribution amount may be disclosed through Elections BC's public financial reporting system.
Campaign contribution information may be retained for the period required by applicable election, financial, tax, accounting and record-keeping laws, even where other information associated with the Campaign is no longer required.
4. Payment Processing
Online campaign contributions are processed using Stripe, a third-party payment processor.
Before proceeding to payment, contributors may be asked to confirm information concerning their eligibility to make a campaign contribution.
When you proceed to make a contribution, information necessary to process the transaction may be provided directly to Stripe. Stripe may collect information including your name, contact information, billing information, payment method information, transaction details, device information and other information necessary to process payments, authenticate transactions, prevent fraud and provide its services.
Stripe handles personal information in accordance with its own privacy practices and applicable laws.
The Campaign may receive transaction and contributor information from Stripe, including information necessary to administer contributions, maintain campaign financial records and comply with Elections BC requirements.
Complete payment card information is processed by Stripe and is not stored directly by the Campaign through this website.
Access to the Campaign's Stripe account and contribution records is restricted to the Financial Agent and authorized campaign personnel or contractors who require access for payment administration, technical administration, reconciliation, compliance or related campaign functions.
5. Squarespace and Website Hosting
This website is hosted using Squarespace.
Squarespace may process information about website visitors in order to host, secure, operate and provide functionality and analytics for the website. This may include browser, network and device information, IP addresses, pages visited, interactions with the website, referring sources and timestamps.
Contact, volunteer and other website forms may also be hosted or processed through Squarespace. Information submitted through these forms may therefore be processed through Squarespace's systems and made available to authorized members of the Campaign team and authorized campaign service providers.

Access is provided according to role and operational need. Not every individual or organization working with the Campaign has access to every category of personal information.
Individuals, contractors and service providers working with or on behalf of the Campaign are expected to handle personal information confidentially, use it only for authorized campaign purposes and take reasonable measures to protect it.
Access to campaign contribution and financial information is restricted to the Financial Agent and other authorized persons who require that information for contribution processing, payment or technical administration, reconciliation, compliance, financial administration or reporting.
8. Service Providers, Consultants and Disclosure
The Campaign uses third-party service providers and professional consultants to operate its website, administer campaign activities, process contributions and provide communications and related services.
These include:
Squarespace, for website hosting, administration, website forms and related website services
Stripe, for online payment and campaign contribution processing
HIMMAT MEDIA, for marketing, digital strategy, website administration, campaign communications and authorized administration of online campaign systems
Other authorized public relations, communications, public affairs, technology and professional consultants engaged by the Campaign, where applicable
These providers and consultants may have access to personal information only where reasonably necessary to perform services for the Campaign or fulfil applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
The Campaign remains responsible for personal information under its control and takes reasonable steps to ensure that contractors and service providers handling personal information on its behalf do so appropriately.
Some service providers may process or store information outside British Columbia or Canada. Where information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of that jurisdiction.

To Elections BC or another government or regulatory authority where required by law
To payment processors, financial institutions or related service providers as necessary to process and administer campaign contributions

We do not sell or rent personal information.
9. Campaign Communications
If you sign up to receive campaign news or updates, we may use the contact information you provide to send those communications.
You may unsubscribe from electronic campaign communications at any time using an unsubscribe option provided in the communication, where available, or by contacting the Campaign.
Unsubscribing from campaign communications does not require the Campaign to delete information that must be retained for legal, election-financing, financial or administrative purposes.
10. Protecting Personal Information
The Campaign takes reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, alteration, loss or disposal.
Access to personal information is limited according to role and operational need. Campaign staff, contractors and volunteers who are given access to personal information are expected to use it only for authorized purposes and maintain its confidentiality.
Where third-party platforms or service providers are used, access should be limited to authorized accounts and personnel.
No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, while we take reasonable measures to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Retention and Disposal
The Campaign retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected and to satisfy applicable legal, regulatory, election-financing, accounting and record-keeping obligations.
Different types of information may therefore be retained for different periods.
Campaign contribution and financial records may be retained for longer periods where required by Elections BC or other applicable laws.
When personal information is no longer reasonably required and no legal or regulatory obligation requires its retention, the Campaign will take reasonable steps to securely destroy, delete or anonymize it.
12. Access and Correction
You may contact the Campaign to request access to personal information about you that is under the Campaign's control or to request correction of information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
Certain information may not be available for access, correction or deletion where its retention or non-disclosure is required or permitted by law, including information maintained to comply with election-financing and reporting requirements.
We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding to a request involving personal information.
